Sandra Van der Gucht

Sandra Van der Gucht (1979, Gent) volgde haar eerste pianolessen bij Luc Van Loo in haar geboortestad. Daarna studeerde ze als allround-klavierspeelster aan het Lemmensinstituut te Leuven en behaalde er de masterdiploma’s voor piano met onderscheiding in 2002 bij Johan Lybeert en Ewa Korniszewska, voor kamermuziek met onderscheiding in 2003 bij Jaap Kruithof, voor orgel met grote onderscheiding in 2006 bij Reitze Smits en voor klavecimbel met grote onderscheiding in 2017 bij Kris Verhelst.
Ze volgde verschillende masterclasses: orgel bij Leo Van Doesselaar in Berlijn en bij Louis Robilliard in Lyon, orgelimprovisatie bij Loïc Maillié en Peter Planyavsky in Haarlem en klavecimbel bij Enrico Baiano in Urbino.

Sandra concerteerde in België, Nederland, Frankrijk, Duitsland en Slovenië. Haar brede interesseveld resulteerde in artistieke projecten als “De Zonnekoning Ongezien”, een muziektheatervoorstelling over Louis XIV; het ensemble “The Legacy of Bach”, een internationaal barokensemble dat muziek brengt van Bach in combinatie met nieuwe muziek die in opdracht van dit ensemble wordt gecomponeerd; de creatie van “Sports Sonorizated” voor piano solo van Nicolas de Cock; uitvoeringen “Orgel en dans”, met hedendaagse danseres Svitlana Kolesova; vierhandige improvisatieconcerten met Jozef Sercu; inspelingsconcerten van het Lovaertorgel te Gontrode, gerestaureerd door Joris Potvlieghe. Ze richtte samen met Lieven Dobbelaere het duo “Klankkathedraal” op voor orgel en trompet.
Sandra musiceerde als solist met het orgelconcerto van Poulenc, het klavecimbelconcerto WV 204 van Krebs, het Brandenburgs concerto V BWV 1050, het concerto voor 4 klavecimbels BWV 1065 en het klavecimbelconcerto in d BWV 1052 van Bach. Daarnaast is zij terug te vinden op het podium als begeleidster en continuospeler.
Zij is te beluisteren op de CD “Five centuries of Flemish harpsichord music” (Phaedra-2015) van Jan Devlieger in enkele duo’s voor 2 klavecimbels.
Op pedagogisch vlak realiseerde Sandra workshops rond “Creërend muzikant” voor OVSG en publiceerde ze “Piano-avonturen”, een creatieve pianomethode voor jonge leerlingen uitgegeven bij HRDSCR Editions in 2020.

Sandra is coördinator en artistiek docent begeleidingspraktijk, toegepaste harmonie en practicum klavier aan het KASK/Conservatorium – School of Arts – HoGent.

Sandra Van der Gucht (b 1979, Ghent, Belgium) took her first piano lessons with Luc Van Loo in her hometown. She then studied as an all-round keyboard player at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven, where she obtained the master's degrees for piano with distinction in 2002 with Johan Lybeert and Ewa Korniszewska, for chamber music with distinction in 2003 with Jaap Kruithof, for organ with great distinction in 2006 with Reitze Smits and for harpsichord with great distinction in 2017 with Kris Verhelst.

She attended several master classes: organ with Leo Van Doesselaar in Berlin and with Louis Robilliard in Lyon, organ improvisation with Loïc Maillié and Peter Planyavsky in Haarlem and harpsichord with Enrico Baiano in Urbino.

Sandra has performed in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Germany and Slovenia. Her wide range of interests resulted in artistic projects such as ‘The Sun King Unseen’, a music theatre performance about Louis XIV; the ensemble ‘The Legacy of Bach’, an international Baroque ensemble performing music by Bach combined with new music commissioned by this ensemble; the creation of ‘Sports Sonorizated’ for piano solo by Nicolas De Cock; performances of ‘Organ and Dance’, with contemporary dancer Svitlana Kolesova; four-handed improvisation concerts with Jozef Sercu; the inauguration concert of the Lovaert organ in Gontrode, restored by Joris Potvlieghe. Together with Lieven Dobbelaere, she founded the duo ‘Klankkathedraal’ for organ and trumpet.

Sandra has performed as a soloist with Poulenc's organ concerto, Krebs' harpsichord concerto WV 204, the Brandenburg concerto V BWV 1050, the concerto for 4 harpsichords BWV 1065 and Bach's harpsichord concerto in d BWV 1052. She also performs on stage as an accompanist and continuo player.

She can be heard on Jan Devlieger's CD ‘Five centuries of Flemish harpsichord music’ (Phaedra-2015) in several duos for 2 harpsichords.

On the pedagogical front, Sandra realised workshops on ‘Creative Musician’ for OVSG and published ‘Piano Adventures’, a creative piano method for young pupils published by HRDSCR Editions in 2020.

Sandra is coordinator and artistic teacher of accompaniment practice, applied harmony and practicum keyboardinstruments at KASK/Conservatory - School of Arts - HoGent.
